Ok, so many people are asking "How do I get more referrals" or "How did you get so many referrals".  I am starting a list of how people ACTUALLY get referrals- where they go, what they do, etc.  Please list here so we can get a comprehensive thread going, instead of multiple little threads.

-----Don't just post how many referrals you have, or how much money you are making!-----
--------------Please post ACTUAL referral ideas--------------------

Here is my contribution:

For the Treasure Trooper's Guide To Referrals, check out the first page of the site, it gives some great hints!
http://www.treasuret...referrals.shtml

Good ways of getting referrals include:- Updated List 08/20/06
1) Friends and Family
2) Forums - Add your link to your signature for forums (ones that allow this of course)
3) Flyers
4) Chat rooms
5) Social networking sites - MySpace, Xanga
6) Create a website with your referral link
7) Mabutu - pearl friendship bracelet - Next 2 people to join site unreferred become your referrals
8) Advertising sites PTC - Stormclix, etc.
9) Add your link to your personal email signature
10) Free domain (up.to or pdnr.com) - redirect to your referral link

Now, the trick is ....how to get your referrals to make money.
The first thing I do is request to contact my referrals.  If they approve contact, I send out a standard e-mail with hints and tips I've learned by using TT and the forum.
Here is the sample e-mail (if you want to use it, you can, and just modify it for yourself):

Thanks for signing up for Treasure trooper (TT)!  I hope you're having fun with it, I am!  I have made $250 in only one month, and I want to give you a couple of pointers I have discovered.

First things first, I would say start with the free offers so you can get used to the system.  Make sure to fill them out completely and with completely honest information. When you do orders, make sure to go through them AS FAR AS POSSIBLE.
Some good options for free voicemail programs (some people don't like giving home phone #'s):
www.privatephone.com - this one lets you choose your area code
www.k7.net

One trick to getting offers approved is to not do them all in the same day.  Do like 3 or 4 a day.  When you are done make sure to clean out your cookies, and have cookies enabled (Check Toolbar above- Click "Tools"---then  "Internet Options"--- then "Delete Cookies").

If you have multiple e-mail addresses you will want to use a couple of alternate e-mail addresses, and switch e-mail from time to time. (You can create hotmail, yahoo, etc... for personal use).  I use one e-mail address for all of my CC offers, that way, if I order a service with a free trial I can track my orders more easily.
Many of the offers are offered by the same company, and even though you clicked on different links (ex. RAZR then Laptop), it still thinks you're completing the same offer twice, and trying to cheat the system.  That is when using different e-mail addresses is helpful!

I have paid for a couple of offers, the rest were the .50 and $1 ones.
*____________ is cool... they paid $17 and 5 coins (in about a day and a half it posted to my account!), and you have a 2 weeks free trial.
*____________ is good to...you have to pay $12.95 for access... but they give you $27 and gold coins.  They charge a monthly fee after the 1 week trial period.  Well worth it!
*____________ also has a _____________ that is only $4.95, and they give you $13, so once again, well worth it!
*____________ was also a good offer.  They paid out $40, you just have to put a $25 deposit down to play _____- BUT I won $40 with _______, so I ended up with even more money!

Also, one helpful hint is to get referrals! I have made $40 just by having referrals who complete offers (THANK YOU!).  Ideally, the more referrals you get, the more $$$ you will make.  I do make more money by completing orders than I get via referrals though.

They have a way to make flyers or business cards on the TT website, they are great tools for attaining referrals.  Also, make sure to e-mail friends and family, because this is a really easy way to make money, and who can't use a little extra cash from time to time :)  I like the flyers because I can post them in the mailroom at my apartment or at local posting boards.

If you shop online, make sure to check out the cash shopping section.  I order flowers frequently, and by using the link from TT, I get cash back!  They have over 300 stores there!  I also have used 1-800-Flowers, OVERSTOCK.com, PetSmart, GNC and a couple of others.  I have never had a problem with the online shopping through TT, and I always get money credited to my account because of it!  Defeinitely a good service to check out!

Another good thing to do is to check out the TT Forum and Chat.  I have gotten so many good tips and advice through them, its worth it to check it out!!!

Those are just a few tips for now.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions!!! :)  Please let me know if I can help you in any way!  I'll do my best!

Happy Treasure Hunting!!!
Lena

**End e-mail

When treasure hunts come around, I send out a reminder e-mail to purchase a ticket, or when great offers come around or I find good tips I send out a quick note.
It is just a way to keep your referrals motivated, and keep them thinking about Treasure Trooper.

This was posted by AGNJoe in another thread, thought it fit pretty well here:

Some hints I do for the flyers is take them to colleges and pin them up on the bulletin boards in either the populated areas or community centers, as that helps.

Also, since I work where I have access to a photocopier, I print up about 50 to 100 flyers, and spend an hour or two in the downtown areas or one of the main areas of the heavier populated stores or malls, and hand out the flyers to people who may want them.

It especially helps because I work in downtown Chicago, so I just hit Michigan Avenue, and start handing them out. I normally can hand out 100 flyers in about an hour.

If you know of a big concert happening, you'll get a lot of teenagers and college kids that are willing to take the flyers and hand them out after the concert.

Your best best is to be inventive. Make a bunch of flyers and hand them out at events or areas that are heavily populated with a lot of people. And you have to figure that roughtly about for every 10 to 20 flyers, you'll might get a referral.

I got another gewd idea. First get your own free domain ( up.to or pdnr.com ), then redirect it to ur refferal. After you've done that, find any kind of paper money u come across (100s 50s 10s 1s, watever) and write "I got this $10/5/1 dollars from [insert refferal link or free domain here] and u can too!" I'm pretty sure i've gotten a nice number of refferals that way.

There's no need to be rude.  We're just sharing ideas here.  Ridiculing others is neither helpful nor appropriate.

I actually really like the advertising on money thing,
except for the whole being against the law to deface a bill and all...
