Yeah... okay... I would hate to see the state of this nation if it weren't for the founding fathers. You, most likely, wouldn't have ANY of the rights that you have today. We should feel lucky and proud to live in a nation that was founded on protecting our freedoms.

It's not that if you're a follower of a religion you're a nutjob, it's just that all the nutjobs seem to gravitate toward religion.

Personally I don't understand this reverence for our founding fathers. Like most people in positions of power, they were corrupt. I don't think it matters which God they worshiped. Separation of church and state is a sound concept, one that promotes equality. It protects religion from the government and the government from religion, so everyone should be happy. The problem is that we are all so intent on forcing everyone to do what we feel is right. That goes for all of us.

And if it weren't for George Smith, we probably wouldn't have lollipops. That doesn't mean that George Smith is infallible or that lollipops were perfect at the moment of their creation and cannot be improved upon without sullying the sacred name of George Smith! I'm awfully fond of lollipops, don't get me wrong-- but their inventor was human and as flawed as any one of us, and there have been some admirable advancements in the world of lollipops since George's time.

Civil Unions between same-sex couples I fully support. Then again, I really don't give a **** about the whole "Gay Rights" etc. stuff because it just doesn't apply to me as a straight guy.

Bunnysound is a woman.  I agree, it's a great thing that the founding fathers gave her the opportunity to vote that she enjoys today.  Oh, wait, never mind...

You should.  It could be your minority group next.

Isn't there a poem with this theme? About keeping quiet when some other group's rights are violated because it doesn't apply to you? "They came for the Jews but I wasn't a Jew so I said nothing. They came for the homosexuals but I wasn't a homosexual, so I said nothing. They came for me and there was no one left to say anything" or something along those lines?

I believe you are looking for Pastor Niemoeller: “First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists, but I was neither, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.”

BTW, did you get my PM the other night?

I believe gay marriage should not be banned.

Gay people are as much as human beings as anyone else is.

People should be allowed to get married to who they want, no matter what sex.

i agree with gay marriage. gay people deserve to be happy as much as anyone else of us does. we shouldn't judge their capability of raising a child. i know a lot of normal couples who couldn't raise their kids well. it's not about the gender, but the values of the parents.
