Time for a humorous debate.

Do the Harry Potter books and movies promote Satanic witchcraft?

I personally enjoyed the books quite a bit.

I did have a religion teacher in high school who refused to let his children read the books or anything.

I liked them and no I don't think they got me into witchcraft, I guess I could be mistaken. My boyfriend's mom at the time they started becoming popular wouldn't let any of the kids read them, because they're evil. :)

I'm not too keen on my kids reading them, having a Christian background myself.  My wife says absolutely not.

I used to play  Dungeon and Dragons in high school with a bunch of other nerds and I'm not into spooky stuff...
At some point you have to let your kids make decisions.  they're only 2 and 1 now... so we'll see.

My elementary school had them banned for a while. If you ask me, they don't promote anything of the sort. If Harry Potter is so bad that people can't read it, then I don't want to even know what those people think of TV.

I agree with your wife.  They absolutely do not promote witchcraft.  Or Satan.  Ironic that so many people are up and arms about them, while it turns out in the final book that Harry mimics the actions of a certain religious figure (keeping it obscure so as not to spoil).
